Education
The Education Program of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is rooted in the legacy of our founders, who were esteemed educators in their own right. While a commitment to academic achievement has been a cornerstone since our inception, the program was formally codified as a national pillar in 1936 with the election of Hon. Bro. Fred G. Minnis, Esq. as the first Director of Education. Following a constitutional restructuring in 1945, the program evolved into its modern form, focusing on comprehensive services for both graduate and undergraduate members. Today, we advance excellence through a diverse range of Key Initiatives, including:
-
Scholarship & Literacy: Providing financial support and promoting foundational reading skills.
-
S.T.E.M. & Global Education: Preparing the next generation for technical careers and a connected world.
-
Adopt-A-School (AAS): Building direct partnerships with local educational institutions.
-
Arts & Advocacy: Fostering creative expression and championing equitable public health and education policies.
-
Competitive Excellence: Hosting Debate and Oratorical Competitions to sharpen leadership and communication skills.
